Bogor Highlands Golf Retreat - Scenic Fairways & Luxury Stays

Sentul Highlands, designed by Gary Player, is located in Bogor area inside the Sentul City residential development. Sentul Highlands takes a little over 1 hour from Jakarta via the Jagorawi toll road and in 30 minutes from the center of Bogor. It was previously known as Mentari Golf Bukit Sentul.

Constructed in 1997 the Bogor area course makes good use of the lands’ hilly terrain. Many of the holes have panoramic views of nearby Gunung Salak and the Bogor foothills. The course is turfed with Bermuda grass and plays a short 6500 yards.

Rancamaya Golf and Country Club is located 1.5 hours from Jakarta and 20 minutes from Bogor. The Ted Robinson designed golf course has spectacular volcano views of the extinct Mount Salak. In addition there are some excellent holes that for the most part play in a stadium-like arrangement making for many good scoring opportunities. The Bogor golf course is 450 meters above sea level. This altitude ensures for pleasant year-round golfing weather and helps balls fly one club further than at sea level.

Rancamaya Golf & Country Club incorporates a series of lakes connected by small waterfalls. The soothing sound of moving water on most holes is a relaxing when playing. Multiple teeing areas, strategically placed hazards and large greens all add to the enjoyment of golfing at Rancamaya.

The opening hole plays from an elevated tee next to the clubhouse and is a short par-4. With a large landing area there is hardly any trouble. Hitting the green in regulation is also straightforward. Be sure to take enough club though as any weak fades could end up in the pond short right.

The fourteenth is the signature hole. A par-3 with great views of Mount Salak and the surrounding valleys requires perfect club selection to hit the well-protected green below.  The finishing hole plays uphill to an island green. The tee shot necessitates a long carry over a deep ravine. Only long hitters should try for the green in two as the approach shot requires pinpoint accuracy to avoid the water around the green. Otherwise three shots to the green with a one-putt will give a better par chance.

The Rancamaya course set within the Rancamaya Estate offers a variety of facilities including excellent 5-star on site hotel.  Besides the usual driving range, practice greens, Rancamaya has a uniquely Thai designed clubhouse with open air locker rooms, pro shop, and local Indonesian restaurant. The resort includes a fitness center, gym and kids club. Free form swimming pools with views of Mount Salak are particularly impressive for overnight guests. Services from caddies, attendants, and all of the Rancamaya staff are excellent.

Whether for the day or as part of an overnight package, Rancamaya is one of the best Bogor golf courses and can easily become the centerpiece of any Bogor golf package.
